4. Finding Books On Your Topic

To find books at the ACC Library, go to the ACC Library homepage at www.arapahoe.edu/lrc. Enter a title, author, subject, or keywords in the text box. (Or, if you click "Go" when the text box is empty, you will be taken to a search page with more options.)

If you cannot find the book you need, you can try other library catalogs.

The ACC Library subscribes to netLibrary, an electronic book website at www.netLibrary.com. For full access to netLibrary, you can register as a user on one of the library's computers, then you can use netLibrary from home. Other electronic book sites are National Academies Press (www.nap.edu) and Project Gutenberg (www.promo.net/pg).

To search for books (as well as periodicals) at other libraries in the state, go to the Colorado Virtual Library (www.aclin.org) or Prospector (http://prospector.coalliance.org), also accessible from the ACC Library homepage under Other Library Catalogs or from the ACC Library Reference page under Books & Periodicals at Other Libraries. If you find a library that has the book you need, give the library a call and the book will held for you. (Your ACC or public library card is good at most libraries in the area.)

If you have several weeks before your paper is due, you can request to have a book be sent to your library from another library. Simply ask for an Interlibrary Loan Request form at the Circulation Desk. In most cases, there is no charge for this nationwide service.
